Strata Ink Early Planting Collection 30ml size
Strata Ink Early Planting collection consists of 3 bottles of ink one 30ml (1 oz.) bottle of Bentonite Brown, one 30ml (1 oz.) bottle of Chlorite Green, and one 30ml (1 oz.) bottle of Strata Pink. Please note the ink bottles are now round instead of the rectangular bottles pictured, due to changes in bottle availability. These colors represent the three stages of starting seeds- the brown soil, the green spouts, and eventually the pink flowers. Starting seeds in late winter is an act of investing in the future, and it is my wish that in much the same way these inks will yield rewards in your creative practice.
Bentonite Brown pigment is hand foraged in Central Oregon along the John Day River. This clay was formed from a series of volcanic eruptions 35 million years ago depositing layers of ash. This volcanic ash gradually weathered into soils. The soil is a dark brown, silky bentonite clay. In the wild it dries into popcorn like clusters. These clusters are hand ground and levigated to select for the finest pigment particles. This ink is very lightfast.
The Chlorite Green pigment is hand foraged in Central Oregon from a gently sloping road cut. The pigment is a claystone colored by chlorite rich water moving through beds of volcanic ash. The claystone fragments are hand ground and levigated to select for the finest particles. This ink is very lightfast.
Strata Pink is a combination of several natural mineral pigments. One of these is a hand foraged pigment from Central Oregon. It comes from a narrow band of pink rock visible on a steep descent to the John Day River. This rock is hand ground and levigated to select for the finest particles. This ink is very lightfast.
The ink is packaged in 30ml (1 oz.) clear glass bottles capped with a glass dropper lid. The pigment is hand mulled on a glass slab with watercolor medium for a smooth consistency. The pigment in the ink naturally settles over time. Shake before use.
The ink is suitable for use with brushes. It can also be dropped directly onto paper and then diluted with water or combined with other water-based paints and inks. The ink can also be dropped into a palette and used as a wet watercolor paint. If the ink dries in the palette it can be rewet for use in the same manner as a dry watercolor paint. Please watch my ink video tutorials for more information about how your inks will arrive, how to use oxgall to counteract floccing, and how to blend the inks.
The ink is all natural, but not suitable for consumption. Keep away from pets and unsupervised children.
